First UFO of 2012 is DONE!!!

This Oriental Peacock quilt is #5 on my list of UFO’s in the Patchwork Times 2012 UFO Challenge, which is the number Judy pulled for January.  Happily, I finished the top last night!  I so wish I had a better camera because I just can't get a picture that does it justice.  The colors are just amazing!  Yum!!!  I have named it Peacock Braids.  You can read more about how I found the fabric and decided on the pattern in my earlier post here.  It also has more closeup's of the fabrics to give you a better look at the colors.

I am so thankful for my friends who spent hours one day helping me choose just the right colors for the braids.

I was very nervous about cutting the peacock out of the fabric.  This was not a panel, but just regular yardage, so I had to cut it out of the middle of the yardage, making sure it was straight and centered as much as possible, while at the same time keeping the measurements exact in order to fit in the braids.  And since math has never been my strong point, I kept rechecking my measurements to be sure I was cutting it the right size.  There was no room for mistakes.  It was a very tense time!  Thankfully, I think it worked out fine.

I already have 3 wall hangings sandwiched and in line to be quilted on my DSM, so I’m not sure when this one will get quilted.  I really want to think about it for a while and make sure I am happy with the designs I choose.  So for now, I am calling it DONE!!!  Yoohoo!  I just hope February’s UFO is as kind to me ;-)

Hugs & Blessings,
Teresa

I often find I am holding my breath when I am cutting something with no margin for error. : )
