It's beginning to look a lot like.....

Christmas!!!!

Can you believe we are just now putting up our tree?  I know - we're bums!!!  But seriously, we just simply haven't had time or opportunity before now.  Travel, 'flu, parties.... we're a busy couple of folks!  Things have been feeling a little upside down....

So today is officially Put-up-the-Tree day.  Honestly, I'm so glad our son and his family are coming the day after Christmas, because we would probably have opted out on putting up the tree this year otherwise.  And as we all know, it's not good to forego the tree!  Hubby is having *fun* now shaping it up and putting all the lights on it.  When he's done, then I'll decorate with the ornaments.  Perhaps I'll update with an "After" picture later tonight :*)

We hope to have the decorating done by game time.  I'll be stitching on my current Promises & Borders block today since I don't have my next Blue Collection block prepped for applique yet.  I'm joining up with Kathy and others doing some slow stitching today HERE.

I really need to get these P&B blocks done anyway.  I'm tired of working on them and need to get them off my plate!

I managed to steal a nice block of time for sewing on Easy Street Friday - whoohoo!!!  I got Clue #5 all cut out using the Sizzix cutter for the 3-1/2" squares....

and the same for the 2" purple squares.....

I have about a third of these blocks complete.  This is an easy block, so I'll probably finish them up before I go back and work on Clues 2-4 to catch up.

Drawing a line diagonally through squares is NOT one of my favorite ways to spend my time, so I used my Angler tool to sew the purple squares on.

I thought I might show you how that works for those who have not tried the Angler tool.  It's quicker and easier for me, and no drawing lines!!!!!  You just position the squares so that the corner of the square you are sewing on sits on the center line of the Angler....

All the way to the end....

If you are interested in more information on this tool, there is a YouTube video HERE  to see more about how it works, and you can Google it to find several places to purchase it.  I'm not affiliated in any way of course, just sharing a tool that I like to use in this type of block :*D

I did enhance the stash just a little this week!  I won this great package of fabrics & a pattern from Marcia over at Marcia's Crafty Sewing & Quilting.  I just love these bright fabrics!!!  And down on the bottom right is a really fun quilty card she also included in the prize package.  Thanks Marcia!!!

I also added these two batiks that were very low on the bolt and crying to come home with me.....

Gotta love those colors, right???  Wow!!!

As for sweet Gypsy, she's not feeling very sweet right now LOL!!!  She actually feels a little more like this....

I'd update with a current picture of her, but she's off somewhere sleeping off the last dose of pain killers :*D
Plus, she's really not looking her best, and every girl needs to look her best for the camera, right?
She does seem to be doing better though, and we thank you all for your lovely thoughts and prayers!!!  I'll let her blog her thanks when she's feeling a little better.

Hope you all have a lovely Sunday!

Hugs & Blessings,
Teresa

  2. I have an angler too and I really like it! If only I could find it now!!
Such a lovely stitchery block you are working on. I understand though how projects go on for too long, and you just get tired of them. Time for a new years NEW project! LOL
Thanks for linking up to Slow Sunday Stitching!
    Merry Christmas!

  3. The upside down snowman is a hoot. Glad you got a tree up, now it will still be fresh for the new year. It is a lot of trouble each year, but so festive. Love you Easy Street colors! So bright and happy.

  6. Nice looking tree and your upside down snowman is the cutest. Did you get all that snow already this year? We haven't had but a few flurries so far.
Your batiks are definitely great colors. Fit right in to my stash very nicely I might add. Thanks for the reminder about the angler. I think I too have one of those somewhere in my sewing room -- if only I new where.
Hope Gypsy gets to feeling better before Christmas. She will want to open her packages by herself I'm sure.

  8. I am so blessed to have a friend as compassionate and sensitive as you -- taking pity on the tears of those two beautiful batiks and carrying them home. LOL!! And Teresa, we *just* put our tree up and got it decorated yesterday; we can make each other feel better!! I love your header, by the way -- it's really pretty! Hugs, sweet girl!! :)

  11. I have one of those Anglers, but, I haven't a clue how to use it. Now, if I can just remember where I put it...

  14. I envy you that Sizzix cutter ... and am thinking of asking for one for my birthday (in February). Cutting out is my least favorite part of quilting. ;-)

I just LOVE your colors for Easy Street. I'm printing out the steps for working on later, and I wasn't sure if I was going to stick with Bonnie's colors ... but seeing yours, has convinced me to go with them.

I watched an Angler video last night ... looks like it would be such a time saver ... even when doing conventional piecing. I think I'm going to be order one real soon.

And where did you get that light shining down on your machine? I could use more light when I sew, especially at night. I've got a couple of lights that clamp on to my sewing table, but the necks aren't long enough to really get some nice light on the needle/sewing area. What you have looks like it's perfect - plenty of light without it getting in the way.

Praying that Gypsy will be feeling better soon.

  15. I also used the Angler for this step of Easy Street. It was so much easier than drawing diagonal lines.
    Your batik purchases are gorgeous!
    Merry Christmas.

  16. Love the snowman!
DH has had the flu for a week--sure put a damper on things for us, but at least the decorating was complete before he got sick.
I've never seen the Angler demonstrated. Thanks for that--very neat idea! Quite a timesaver!!
    LOVE those batiks, Teresa.
    Merry Christmas, my friend!

  17. Such a cute snowman hanging next to the christmas tree! And I love the batiks, especially the red one. I'm currently working on a spiral lone star with a fabric that looks a lot like it!

  19. I think that drawing those diagonal lines is a time-sucker. I have an Angler and used it a couple of times. What turned out easiest for me is a piece of masking tape on the acrylic insert in my sewing table. The tape provides the straight line that the Angler does.....but truth to tell, most of the time I eyeball the diagonal line and that's the easiest and best.

    Merry Christmas from northeasternmost Illinois.

  21. Great fabrics Teresa! I bought the Angler about a year ago and was all excited about it.....until I put in on my BLACK vintage sewing machine.......I wish they made a white one....or maybe they do!

  22. I've used an angler in the past and didn't think it was the greatest but after drawing the line on all 128 purple squares I am beginning to see the appeal!
