There are over 150 bloggers participating in the Big Birthday Bash over at Quilting Gallery - and YOU are the winners! Each blog has a giveaway -
fun stuff, quilty stuff, stuff you really, really want! :*D
Here at A Quilt and A Prayer, I am getting ready for the Christmas season =^..^=
And what could be a better birthday gift at this time of year than Christmas fabrics and other fun stuff?
This is what I am offering.....
There's a half yard of this really cute Grandma's Gingerbread fabric....
And then I added these cute fat quarters that will play very nicely with it =^..^=
And then... (I couldn't stop!) .... I added these adorable heart-shaped cookie ornaments!
Yes, I had to force myself to give them away! I actually bought them at The Cherry Pit last week for my own tree. But then I realized how perfectly they match this fabric and I decided they needed to go with this gift package :*D
And then.... (Somebody stop me!!!) .... I added an unopened spool of Aurifil thread to the mix!
***************************************
So how do you win this bundle of Christmas quilty goodies? You can have TWO chances at winning.....
1st CHANCE - Leave a comment here telling me what you remember most about your Grandma's kitchen. I remember my grandmother had these wonderful rooster plates that I loved. She always made "dippy" eggs for my breakfast when I visited in the summers. I dipped my bread in those egg yolks and ate quickly, excited about seeing the rooster show up on the plate as I finished! Ah, good memories! I really, really miss my grandmother!!!
2nd CHANCE - If you are a follower, leave a SECOND comment telling me that you are. If you are not a follower, become a follower and tell me in your SECOND comment how you are following (Google Friend Connect, email, etc.)
That's it, no hoops to jump through :*) I will ship anywhere, so feel free to comment and cross your fingers for the win! I will keep the Giveaway open for comments through midnight, Monday, December 15 (EST).
PLEASE make sure you are not a No-Reply commenter! If you have any doubt, just leave your email address in the comment so I can contact you. If I can't contact you, you can't win!

ReplyDeleteI remember that my grandmother(Ma)had a real ice box in her kitchen until my parents gave them their refrigerator with the little square box freezer when they got a newer one. I remember that she also had a converted coal stove. Of course I have to tell you that this was back in the early 1950s when I was probably about 5 or 6.

ReplyDeleteMy grandmas died when I was young - the only memory I have of Granny Shield was her sitting by the AGA peeling onions!!
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother had a huge wood-burning stove in her kitchen. There was a grate in the ceiling & the heat would rise up into the 2nd floor, which was the only way it was heated. She also had a small electric stove, but did most of her cooking on the wood burner. She was an amazing lady. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteI've been following by email, but just now became a GFC follower too. Thanks.

ReplyDeleteI can remember my Grandma making me green beans for dinner. Her green beans were so good. She used a bit of vinegar in hers. She and Granddad would always watch the Ed Sullivan show after dinner. Your gift package is going to become the envy of every follower in the quilter's world. It's beginning to feel like Christmas. Thank you for being so generous and here's hoping your holidays are the best.

ReplyDeleteWow, just thinking about my gramma's kitchen has me all choked up. It's been a long time since I have envisioned it. I love that old farmhouse she lived in.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother's kitchen had those swinging doors to go into it, and I thought that was the coolest! My memory is of bursting through those swinging doors and always seeing my grandmother's back, because she was facing away from the door working at the counter on whatever she was cooking!
ReplyDeleteI remember my grandma eating sugar sandwiches or honey sandwiches, I guess from the war, they had rations so having a sugar or honey sandwich was a treat! (this was in Denmark)
ReplyDeleteMy Gramma had this really cool toaster and when you put the bread in it, it would go down into the toaster all by itself. I was always the toast maker at Gramma's house because I loved that toaster!
ReplyDeleteMy gramma had a drawer beside her stove that was just the right height for me to stand in to help her cook. She always kept that drawer empty so I could climb up and help whenever I wanted. We used to butcher chickens and I got to help singe off the pin feathers.
ReplyDeleteI remember everyone crammed into the grandparents kitchen playing cards and watching both of the grandparents who would be on opposite teams cheat.

ReplyDeleteMy grandmother has a teeny, tiny kitchen, but somehow, over the holidays, there are about ten people crammed in there, trying to turn around and have room to stir a bowl. She always had plenty of aprons she had sewn to pass out to all her helpers (whether we were very helpful or not).

ReplyDeleteMy grandmother was very short - under 5' tall, so Grandpa had her cupboards built lower to suit her height. I remember her kitchen as being almost like a doll house, because everything was so low to the ground for me.

ReplyDeleteI honestly didn't spend much time in either of my grandma's kitchens. I never remember being at their homes baking...and my paternal grandmother was always very ill with diabetes...until she passed when I was very young.
ReplyDeleteI do know my other grandmother always hosted a huge family gathering at Christmas...so the kitchen was always busy busy!
Thanks for a chance to win.

ReplyDeleteWhat I remember most is that the kitchen was actually rather small and there was a sitting bench around 2 parts of the table, and for some reason when there were guests we all managed to fit in the kitchen...also my grandma made lots of cookies around Christmas time, and when we visited her in the afternoons the whole kitchen was covered in plates with freshly baked cookies! :)
ReplyDeleteI'd love to get another piece of the Grandma fabric--had some some years back and made cards and gift tags from it. My Grandma's kitchen had a big scarey wood burning stove that put out the most delicious food!

ReplyDeleteMy grandma's kitchen had TONS of heart decorations in it and she used to carry me around and we'd count them all. At the end, we'd just say "A MILLION!" because even the wallpaper was hearts.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother had an old butter churn by the back door. Her kitchen always smelled so yummy! I remember her 'one spoon' leftover dish containers. If there was one spoonful of something leftover, she'd put it in a dish, and put it back into the fridge for another meal. It would get pulled out every meal until someone ate it. I have 2 of those little pyrex dishes in my own kitchen, just to remind me of my grandmother. She is the reason I love treadle sewing machines, too.
ReplyDeleteOf course I've been a follower for a long time now. Such lovely goodies you are offering. My BFF has gingerbread men in her kitchen. I'd have to make something for her with this, if I win. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteI remember the candy dish in my grandmother's kitchen, every time I went to visit, there was a different type of candy, but at Christmas her 4 different types of fudge were in tins in the cool back hallway. It was so much fun to help her make the fudge.
ReplyDeleteI am a new follower with Google Friend. Thank you for the chance at the giveaway. I love the gingerbread fabric.

My favourite memory of my 'ninnys' kitchen is when we used to make jam roly poly's.... A pastry that had jamin the middle and then you could add cream and ice cream to it.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember much about my grandmas' kitchens. One wasn't very domestic and didn't cook! The thing I remember most about the other grandma's kitchen is that she put her carnations in lemonade.
ReplyDeleteI love my grandmother's apple cake. hugs

ReplyDeleteMy grandmother's treadle was in her kitchen. That's where she taught me to sew.
ReplyDeleteI don't remember anything from my Grandmother's kitchens. One died before I was born and the other when I was younger than 3. I'm sure it would have been the smells of baking which is what I remember from my moms kitchen (she died in 2009 and would have been 103 this Thursday)

What I rember the most about my Grandmothers kitchen we called her Mamie. Mamie had these really cute colored metal aluminum type dinking glasses and all teh grandkids would fight over who got to drink out of them. Their were only 6 cups and 13 grdnkids that were always there. And her kitchen allways had fresh baked goods on the kitchen counter and fresh milk in the fridge. She was the best cook.

ReplyDeleteGrandma always made her homemade noodles on the enameled table in her kitchen cutting them the right width with her little paring knife. The table was a favorite of us kids cause it had red benches that would fold down from the table.

ReplyDeleteI remember when my grandmother made an angel food cake from scratch. She then used the yolks for egg noodles. The noodles were laying all over the kitchen so they could dry out.

My grandmothers both lived in Europe so I had very little opportunity to have kitchen experiences with them. My mom more than made up for that, thankfully.
ReplyDeleteI'm now following you on Pinterest.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmothers are both still living and I remember loving all of the different sized glasses that the one had at her house!
ReplyDeleteI grew up 600 miles away from both of my grandmothers' kitchens; so not a lot of kitchen memories for me

ReplyDeleteI remember watching my grandma cook. It was "a pinch of this" and "a handful of that" -- you could never replicate her recipes! They sure tasted good, though.

ReplyDeleteThe one thing I remember about my Grandmothers kitchen is watching her making tortilla's and then getting the last bit of the dough to roll out my own tortilla. Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteWhat I remember best about my gran's kitchen is her in it. When we went to the farm after she passed away, I felt like a stranger in a strange place - I kept expecting her to come around the corner and open her arms to me.. Like you, I miss her still and she has been gone 9 years now.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win such a fabulous collection of things- I especially like the gingergbread fabric- and those cute hearts.. all too lovely.
Warmest regards,
Anna

ReplyDeleteThanks for participating in the blog hop. I hope you meet lots of new quilty friends.
Season's greetings,
Anna
My Granny had a pie safe which held dishes, some of which had been chipped or cracked when a storm destroyed her previous home. To her they were still useable and she saw no need to discard them. The best thing about it was that was where the cookies were. She and I would have our own little tea party with cookies and hot tea sweetened with saccharin. I miss my Granny too!
ReplyDeleteI am a new follower via Google.
ReplyDeleteI loved all the smells of the baking pies. Thanks for being part of the hop.
ReplyDeleteGrandma standing by the counter cooking and baking in the wood oven.

My grandmother had a large tin under the sink filled with flour that she'd make biscuits in. She had another tin for "drippings" that's grease produced from frying bacon.
ReplyDeleteMy grandmother made the most wonderful homemade bread and sweet iced tea. When the bread came out the oven, she would bring me a piece with a glass of tea....what a special treat!
ReplyDeleteThanks for participating in the blog hop party.

I don't remember any "grandmas" in my past and I'm sorry for that. My Mother never talked of her parents and my Father had family very far away. I will say I hope my grandchildren remember that I made cookies with them. Thank you for the chance to win this wonderful prize!
ReplyDeleteI just began following you and I look forward to many rewarding posts. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteHey Girlfriend! I grew up right next door to my Grandma K. She always had a smile and the best big red candy jar in her kitchen. We could pick out our candy and she would put it in a Baggie for us.

ReplyDeleteWhat a fun and festive giveaway, Teresa.
ReplyDeleteI recall that my grandma kept a block of butter in her fridge (we grew up on margarine) and she would put chunks of it on my bread because it was too hard to spread. I have never gotten over my love of butter! : )
those mouth watering raisin oatmeal cookies
ReplyDeleteThanks Teresa. I remember my grandma had this really cool retro kitchen table back in the early 60's. Reminded you of a picnic table and the benches slid in and out. I loved sitting at that table. Thanks for the giveaway and btw I love gingerbread. New follower
ReplyDeleteI know this sounds silly, but I remember my Grandma always making the best grilled cheese sandwiches. I even referred to the type of cheese that she used as "Grandma Cheese" for years!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it funny how memory works? I can see Mamo's big old stove, and up on one side the metal match container that she would slide a box of matches into, and resting on the ledge of the back of the stove was the measuring cup she used - a teacup with no handle. I helped with many a batch of cornbread in that kitchen! Thanks for reminding me, and thanks for a marvelous giveaway chance!
