It's really bright and happy, just as it should be!
I just love some of these fun prints that ended up in the block .....
Don't you just adore that library print??? I have a lot of different prints in this line that will someday become a nice cuddly quilt for me to snuggle under when I read :) As you can see, I used a lot of the black-on-yellow prints I picked up during my travels last month. In fact, I'm not sure I could even have made this block if I hadn't collected so many new and exciting yellows during my trip. Of course, my favorite is the sunglasses print! Here's another close up of some of the fabrics....
I'm playing with different fabrics for the feathers of my Yellow Hootie block next. I always start with the feathers and choose the other fabrics to go with them......
Taking pictures at night means the colors are off, much darker than normal - UGH!!! I do love the movement in the fabric on the right even though it has a lot of really deep orange it it! |
The fabrics on the right are really not as browy-orange as they look here. I'm not too crazy about any of these, although I'd maybe like to use those dots in one of his "belly layers" |
Hootie's feathers - mainly because I don't even know myself yet! :)

So many beautiful yellow fabrics. Your block has definitely benefited from your recent stash additions. Love all your black on whites too -- great block!
ReplyDeleteGreat fabrics! I may have to start collecting again soon. The stash is dwindling down. Love your blocks
ReplyDeleteThe fabric on the left of the dots might look great as Hootie's feathers! Wonderful additions to your stash and those sunglasses on the print are perfect. Great work this week.
ReplyDeleteThe beachy/sunglasses yellow print was my favorite, too. But then ANYTHING beach-related is a favorite of mine! (Sure am wishing I could be at the beach right now!)
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your yellow Hootie!
Is there such a thing as stash envy - if so I have it. What gorgeous fabrics. Love the little sewing machines, teapots, scissors and those yellow sunglasses are too cool. What a great block. You must have had so much fun selecting these great fabrics. Can't wait to see Hootie.
ReplyDeleteI always enjoy seeing the variety of fabric prints you pick for projects! You have an awesome collection, and I love your yellow block. Can't wait to see the yellow Hootie!
ReplyDeleteSo jealous ;-) of all your bright, cheerful yellow fabrics! Even though I did some yellow stash enhancement, I didn't find anything as colorful as yours! The library print caught my eye immediately - brought back memories of when I worked at the public library in high school. Can't wait to see how this month's Hootie turns out; fwiw, my favorite wing fabric is the yellow on the far right in the last group.
ReplyDeleteI love your yellow stash... such fantastic prints... love love love!
ReplyDeleteWhat an awesome assortment of fabrics!! I love that library print, what a neat find. Now I have the mellow yellow song going through my head....
ReplyDeleteI'm totally in love with that library print! I must have some for my daughter who is a high school librarian. Who makes it? blessings, marlene
ReplyDeleteNice! I don't have much yellow in my stash. You have some fun ones.
ReplyDeleteYour fabrics are much more fun than anything in my stash! Love the "blah, blah, blah."
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see the final selections for Hootie's feathers. I want to see if I guessed correctly what you would choose. : )
Nice! I love the way you've combined the black and white with whatever the month's color. What is the block pattern? It's a really pretty one!
ReplyDeleteThis is a really cute colour combination
ReplyDeleteLove the block and I adore all the fabrics xx
ReplyDeleteLovely mellow yellows!!!
ReplyDeleteLove your fabrics, colors and prints. Another beautiful soul searching block.
