I have to admit, I am very happy with it!!!
Can you see the purple squares? |
.... and I replaced them with bright colorful orange ones!
I am much happier with this result!
I had originally thought to try to find a Laurel Burch cat print for the backing, but one of my guild friends recently had a de-stash sale, and I picked up this fun and very colorful cat print for $2 a yard - woohoo!!!
Have you ever seen a GREEN cat? BLUE? FUSCIA?
These are SEW FUN!!!
And you gotta love those cowboy hats LOL!!!
They look kinda "Nashville" don't they?

=^..^=
The change to the orange is better for the chain design. I love LB fabrics, but that backing is just fabulous.
ReplyDeleteTeresa, your quilt turned out to be a real stunner! And that backing! Oh, my goodness, it's such fun!
ReplyDeleteHi Teresa, I've seen two of the Cozy Afternoon finishes in this morning's blog reading, and they couldn't be more different! What a great, versatile pattern, and of course being a lover of color, I just love your version! Your eye for color serves you well indeed!
ReplyDeleteI, too, have seen two finishes this morning .... and like Quilting Babcia said, they just couldn't be any more different! (I wonder if she's seen the same second one I saw?). Your finish is spectacular ... and your choice to replace the purple cornerstone with orange was genius!
ReplyDeleteI follow your blog.
ReplyDeleteI will agree that the orange is better than the purple.
ReplyDeleteI just got the email for the finishing of the Cozy Afternoon this morning. So I don't have my top done. I also need to sew the last pieces onto my block #5 first. I have other things I am working on now too. Love your top Teresa!
ReplyDeleteОчень забавные коты на вашем одеяле!
ReplyDeleteIt's awesome Teresa! Love it! That backing fabric is perfect!
ReplyDeleteHave thoroughly enjoyed Jacquelynne Steves BOM's. This is my second one of hers. I have done others from different sources. I like Ms. Steve's BOM's because I can make the choice to do machine applique or hand embroidery. Either way I love projects with texture and dimension.
ReplyDeleteReally pretty, Teresa, and I gotta say, those cowboy cats are a hoot!
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunner! And if you are happier with the orange cornerstones (and you are the one that had to do the work to replace them), then more power to you!. Glad you are pleased with the results of your labors.
ReplyDeleteOh, that backing fabric is wonderful! Laurel Birch meets Brad Paisley, or something like that. : )
Orange was a good choice even if it meant some extra time to "do over." Beautiful result!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt. Bright and Happy.
ReplyDeleteI have been looking forward to your finish, and you have not disappointed us!
ReplyDeleteLaurel Feline Love at it's best!!
I do love how you have combined both of Jacquelynne's BOMs - so creative!
Beautiful finish! Jacquelynne's designs allow such creativity. I love seeing quilts that follow the same pattern, and turn out so differently. Wow, such effort to changing those squares, but one must follow one's heart and just do it.
ReplyDeleteWow! What a beautiful quilt! I'd love to see how you replaced those cornerstones. There have been times that I've thought about doing something similar, but the thought of taking the WHOLE quilt apart has been too daunting. Perhaps if I could just take out the offending square, I'd end up liking the quilt(s) better.
ReplyDeleteI just love your top, and the others I have seen!! This has been sew much fun to do this BOM sad to see it end...but will be here for the next one for sure!!! Oh and I have learned a lot of new tricks and have pushed me out of my comfort zone!! That's a good thing :) Thank you
ReplyDeleteI follow you by email and Pinterest!!
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt! I'm doing 3 versions of Cozy Afternoon and one of them uses Laurel Burch blue cats. Yours is much more colorful.
ReplyDeleteAnother "eye-poppin'" masterpiece!!! Bravo, well done!! I agree - I like the orange cornerstones better! (Like my dull colored schemed eyes could even tell the difference!! LOL)
ReplyDeleteBlessings and hugs!
I follow you on google.
ReplyDeleteP.S. Only you would love a fuchsia cat!! LOL
I love the fabric you picked for this BOM. So bright and colorful!!
ReplyDeletetjpets@cville.net
That turned out so well. I love the secondary chain in it and the backing fabric is perfect!
ReplyDeleteI'm a follower!
ReplyDeleteI love your quilt! Gorgeous fabrics and I love how you used them!
ReplyDeleteLove all the colors of kitties! LOL I'm not in the drawing, just stopped by to see your wonderful quilt!
ReplyDeleteI have iterated - and will re-iterate - you are one amazing quilter/artist. The orange is great!
ReplyDeletelove the cats with hats
ReplyDeleteWow! Your finished quilt is a stunner! So clever of you to combine the Sew Sweet Simplicity blocks with the Cozy Afternoon blocks. And you found the perfect backing fabric!
ReplyDeletethe backing is great as well as the front of the quilt. Also love the Laurel Birch quilt.
ReplyDeleteYour version is color magic!

ReplyDeleteAwesome quilt! That will be a perfect backing, too.
ReplyDeleteFabulous colours!
ReplyDeleteYou are so smart about changing out that purple for the orange (even though I'm a purple gal). lol It looks so much more cohesive to the overall look of the quilt. Love your cat backing and those cowboy hats are purrrrfect!!!
ReplyDeleteOpps, forgot to tell you that I follow via email direct, which you probably already know! You know you are special in my book, when I have to walk to the library to check your blog to be sure I didn't miss anything!! lol
ReplyDeleteVery jazzy! I didn't see what you disliked about the purple blocks initially but I think you are spot on with your comment about the orange replacements helping to enhance the 'chain' effect ... I'll have to remember to look out for that in future!
ReplyDeleteLove your voices in color for your Crazy Afternoon BOM
