Have you signed up for the Sew Sweet Simplicty Block-of-the-Month yet?
If not, what are you waiting for????
Jacquelynne says there's still time, so go HERE to get your FREE blocks!
I just couldn't wait to share my Block #2 with you!
I'm having so much fun playing with this Laurel Burch panel of cat prints!!!
I think this month's cat is very enigmatic, don't you?
Perhaps he was a Pharoah's cat?
I think he knows things mere mortals like you and I just couldn't possibly know.....
Like whether the chicken or the egg came first....
I think he'd say "Neither - the CAT always comes first!!!"
I think it plays well with the orange background in the panel block, and somehow it just says BIG CAT to me. It certainly dominates the block, doesn't it? I couldn't resist adding in that luscious, sparkly blue again, with just a touch of purples for the star points ... YUM!!!
Once again, Jacquelynne's instructions for this block were spot on! I breezed right though it :)
However, I did choose to make a change in the color values suggested in Jacquelynne's block, keeping the color running diagonally out to each corner instead of having the neutral in the corner block.
I wanted the eye to be drawn to the awesome cat in the center, and I think it worked :) So don't be afraid to play around with color values and how you want your block to be viewed. There are so many opportunities to make this fun, versatile block your own!
SEW - once again, here are both of the blocks I've done so far - Block #2.....
And Block #1...... (you can read more about this block HERE)
Aren't these designs fun? Jacquelynne has done a beautiful job in designing them! If you haven't visited her blog, Jacquelynne Steves - The Art of Home, I suggest you visit her today! She always has yummy stuff on her blog - quilts, crafts, decorating ideas, recipes - she's sure to get your creative juices jumping!

Don't put my name in the giveaway--I don't need more projects to tempt me (besides, if Denise signs up, she will win anyway, right?). But I had to say how much a love your cat blocks. You and I have very different quilting styles, but I always love what you do with color and design. You are a master, and when something is beautifully made, it catches my attention, whether it is in my colors, or not. And I love what you said about the cat in your second block! Spot on--the cat ALWAYS comes first, at least to the cat. : )
ReplyDeleteTeresa, your cat block is so cool! Your fabric choices are so exciting. I always love to see how you interpret a pattern with your love of bright colors. Both blocks are stunning! The pear quilt looks pretty attractive to me. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteAnother gorgeous block. You have such vision!! I'd make the cherries!
ReplyDeleteOf course I follow you!!
ReplyDeleteI'm loving your blocks! I'd make the cherries.
ReplyDeleteI love your cat block #2. I think the use of that orange all the way out to the corners really brings the eye to the cat. Your color choices are spot on ... like Janet said, your quilting style is so different than mine, but your color choices are always perfect!
ReplyDeleteWhat Janet said was NOT funny! :P LOL! And I love how you're showcasing the cats with your blocks -- and with your fabric choices, it's giving it a whole new look from the original! And pears . . . I'd do the pears!
ReplyDeleteanother neat block.
ReplyDeletei would do the pears.
And I'd follow you to the moon and back! :D

ReplyDeleteBwahahaha! Absolutely- the cat ALWAYS comes first :) Thanks for the inspiration- your blocks are striking!

ReplyDeleteThis is so, SO pretty! I love Laurel Burch fabrics so much. I've got a Christmas quilt to sandwich and quilt this year that I made from them last year. The cat panels are so perfect in the center of these blocks.
ReplyDeleteI love your take on the pattern. Wonderful. To answer your question, I would do the pears. Less fiddly and you can use a variety of fabrics. Green, yellow and red - as opposed to just red cherries.
ReplyDeleteI love the fabric you are using for your BOM your quilt is going to be beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI am a followr of your blog through Bloglovin.

This really has me excited! I would make the Grandma's Pantry quilt using apples. I'm a teacher and apples are just part of the job!
