Long Live the Queen!

Our darling little Gypsy passed over the Rainbow Bridge today. I am pretty sure that right about now she is letting all the others there know that The Queen Has Arrived =^..^=

We are at such a loss. She was with us for 18 and a half years and filled such a huge place in our lives. She felt it her duty to keep me company, no matter what I was doing. Always a faithful companion and ready at a moment's notice for a snuggle in my lap.

There are so many things I'm sure I will not know how to do alone now..... drinking my tea in the quiet time with the Lord each morning with Gypsy in my lap....  winding down at the end of the day, watching a favorite show on TV with Gypsy in my lap....  watching the Panthers play football on Sunday afternoons with Gypsy at my side as I stitched....  she was even an excellent traveler!

I think the hardest thing for me will be when the Spring finally arrives.  She and I are always so excited to be able to get outside again.  We sit on the side porch in the early morning hours and welcome the warmth, grateful for the passing of winter and our enforced captivity inside.  I sip my tea and talk with the Lord, she sits beside me and listens, ever watchful for birds and intruder neighborhood cats, sniffing the air in appreciation.  We sit in companionable silence and watch the world come alive.  I'm sure I will have no idea how to do that alone this year.....

She may have loved my stash almost as much as I do!!!

I am glad our sweet girl is no longer in pain or suffering, but we miss her terribly.....

Hugs & Blessings!
Teresa

  5. What a sweetheart. My heart goes out to you. You obviously required a lot of supervision. I'm sure you will keep her training in mind and not disappoint her.

  6. OH, this makes me so sad and made me cry as I read it! Our little furry kids are so special. My niece had to have her big ole Radar (german shepherd) put to sleep yesterday. So sorry for your loss..such special memories.

  7. So sorry that your furry family member is no longer by your side. I know exactly how you feel as I lost my furry companion of 18 years not to long ago. It amazes me how a small furry creature can fill your heart with such joy while they are here and leave such a large hole in your heart when they are gone.

  8. My heart is heavy for you Teresa. Gypsy is absolutely beautiful, and was a kitty of rare talents. Liking car rides and travelling is not something I would expect of an ordinary cat......so that goes to show you how exceptional she was. But, also realize, she couldn't have had a happier or better life on earth, and that is ALL due to you and your family loving her and taking care of her. Prayers for you all at this time.

  11. I hope our Miss Angel finds your Gypsy on the other side of the bridge -- It's been several years and we still check before opening the door from the garage to the kitchen because she was always there waiting for us. Sending hugs of understanding . . .

I know what it is like to lose a beloved pet that follows you everywhere and there is such a hole in your life after that. Big hugs

  13. Even though I knew this was coming, I was startled to actually read it. Rudy was 'helping' me with my sewing today, telling me that he needed the attention rather than my little quilting project and I gave him a quickie lovin' eager to get back to my work. You just reminded me to cherish all the moments I have with him. I am so sorry for your loss of Gypsy, Teresa. After 18 years, she knows just the kitty that you need to help fill that hole in your heart, and she's keeping her eye out looking for that new blessing and it will come in perfect timing. Take care.

  17. (((((hugs))))) Teresa. I am so very sorry for your loss. Our fur babies are such a big part of our lives...the unconditional love they give us is such a blessing, but when they are gone, they leave such a big hole. I pray that God will send you another fur baby to love and fill a little of the hole left by Gypsy's passing. You have so many wonderful memories and pictures of Gypsy - wander through those halls and enjoy the love given, on both sides. Never easy at this time, but life would be barren and much less sweet without our four-legged friends and companions. She has joined my beloved Phantom (a joyous golden retriever) who went over that bridge on this day 35 years ago - I miss him still, so I'll shed a few tears for Phantom and Gypsy.

  18. Oh, Teresa, I feel your pain. (I lost my best friend of fourteen and a half years in 2012). The memories will be forever in your heart, the pain in your heart will (eventually) ease. Sending you warm hugs from Australia. xo

  19. Teresa, what a lovely tribute to darling Gypsy. I'm so sorry you have lost such a special friend, but I'm so glad you have so many wonderful memories of her. I always told my girls when they were little that our cats went to live in Jesus's garden...it was a nice thought.

  20. Aw.........My deepest sympathies. I can barely read your post as our 15 year-old cat pased a couple of weeks ago. We had a crabby male indoor cat who loved my husband and followed him everywhere.

  21. We just went through this last year. She was older than my kids and I miss her lots. I am sure that she is laughing at me now since I have two insane kitties racing around my house. I did not like being alone and not being told what to do by a cat so we found the two kitties. The days get much easier as you go along. My cat was hurting towards the end, you couldn't even move her without hissing. Hugs.

  23. Ah, Teresa, I'm so sorry. It's so difficult to lose a beloved pet, but when that pet is such a devoted companion as your sweet Gypsy was, it's doubly hard. {{{hugs}}}

  25. I am so sorry for your loss. I still remember my Ollie - he's been gone for 10 years now and I still smile when I think of him snuggling up next to me in the recliner (extra wide so he could sit next to me). May your memories make you smile.

  29. Both you and Gypsy were blessed to have each other. 18 is a lot of years to spend together. Feeling for you, Girlfriend.

  30. I've had cats all of my life. They can be almost human. Parting is so very difficult. You have been blessed with the time you got to spend together. I hope you're going to get another one. There's a book you might like to read - "Dewey: The Small Town Library Cat Who Touched the World". Our library has it, but it's also on Amazon. It's a good book about how cats can touch lives.

  33. So sorry about your loss. I loved all my pets and I know the hole left in my heart with the passing of each one. My cocker spaniel Phoebe Anne, has cancer. She had a tumor surgically removed, been through a chemo drip and did wonderfully. After one year she developed cancer in her lymph nodes. The different chemo treatments we tried made her lethargic & gave her side effects to the point we have taken her off them. She is now acting her old self with a bad day here & there. I know her time is ticking down so we will just enjoy her day by day and thank God for any time He gives us with her. May God comfort you at this time.

  36. I am so sorry to hear about Gypsy. Your Gypsy looks like a cross between a cat I had and one my mom had. My Snookums was nearly 19 years old when she passed away. She was the best catI ever had and definitely was a queen of everything too. I know how you feel Teresa. My cat has been gone for over 15 years now and we never got another cat or dog. Our Golden retriever died over 10 years ago. My heart was so broken that I just couldn't go through losing another pet. If I am ever all alone one day, I may get another cat, but I just don't want to deal with pets now. Here's a huge cyber hug to you my friend. Time makes it easier to cope. Gypsy will always be in heart.

  42. Teresa, I can feel your pain and sorrow over the passing of your sweet Gypsy. As you know, I've been there recently too. Your tribute was beautiful and she is now an angel watching over you from above. I know that my Lucky has welcomed her when she arrived. Time will heal the pain, but the memories of her wonderful life with you will last forever.
