Sorry for the crooked picture :*D |
and this special Bernina #43 couching foot ...
.... to outline the "clothesline" the banners hang from, as well as her names and the heart....
I love the extra touch of this heart, and I chose to fill it in with the gray text fabric that I am using for the backing. I love the words in this piece.... "grow" ... "sprout"... "plant" .... perfect for a precious Little One!
The same fabric in pink was used in this banner...
I'm thinking for the quilting I will outline the names and banners, and then do a Daisy loop allover design in the free space of the background - not too dense but just enough to keep it soft and cuddly. The binding will be the deep cranberry fabric as used in the upper left banner.
My only concern right now is that the yarn may pull away from the quilt too easily if tiny fingers tug at it. It is a loose two-ply yarn, and the original stitching doesn't always catch both strands all the time. I may end up going back and stitching over the yarn again just to be sure it won't come loose. It was designed to be a wall quilt, but I want her to be able to enjoy it too. I'll keep you posted on this project as I finish it up :*D

The other project on my Design Wall is Talkin' Turkey - and here are just a few of the 30 blocks I managed to get done Friday during our sit-n-sew. Aren't these fun blocks? And all made out of scraps so far - I just love using up those scraps!!!
Now to start on the dreaded 400+ flying geese!!!

Oh. My. Goodness ... if that isn't the most adorable baby quilt! Too, too precious!
ReplyDeleteI love your Talkin' Turkey blocks! Those reds are awesome ... can't wait to see it all put together.
Beautiful quilt top. Love the idea with the banners and the name. I made a quilt back using letters that I paper pieced. Weather is cooling down, maybe it is time to get some of my quilting actually done instead of making tops.
ReplyDeleteYour banner quilt is just adorable! And those red blocks... wow. Looking wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThat is interesting how you put that trim on there.....
ReplyDeleteLove the quilt.
Your banner quilt is gorgeous...just love it!
ReplyDeleteThat is so cute! I also love the turkey fabrics - great colors.
ReplyDeleteWhat a sweet, sweet quilt for the little one. I love the added touch of the yarn, and it seems that it may be a good idea to stitch over it again.
ReplyDeleteThose red scrappy block--what wonderful fun they are.
Oh, my. Did you really say 400+ flying geese? Glad it is you and not me. Though I love this pattern, that may be enough to keep me from ever making it!! : )
Very cute idea for your baby quilt. It will be treasured.
ReplyDeleteI love your new granddaughter's name, and I love the quilt you created for her! It is beyond amazing! Talkin' Turkey is coming right along! I will bet you get those geese done in no time!
ReplyDeleteTeresa, Your pink banner quilt for Genevieve Rose is just the cutest. I have one of those feet too and love it! I've never used that type of yarn with it, but it looks great.
ReplyDeleteTalkin Turkey is coming along nicely. I don't envy you all those flying geese, but I'm sure after ES, they will be a snap.
Your work is just gorgeous! You are so very creative.
ReplyDeleteI have Talkin' Turkey started. Seeing yours makes me want to pull mine out again. I did just take Lazy Sunday off the quilting frame late last night. Here it is on the frame.

I do believe 400+ flying geese would require massive amounts of wine! LOL good luck!
ReplyDeleteLove the banner quilt. Those are beautiful reds. Just take the flying geese in bunches of 20.... makes it a bit more manageable..... Good luck.
ReplyDeleteYour banner quilt is so precious Teresa! Your Talkin' Turkey blocks are great too
ReplyDelete! Thanks for sharing.
