A story of The Good, The Bad , and The Ugly
The Good: Summer flowers are making their appearance and coloring our world with splendor! Isn't my Crepe Myrtle looking gorgeous? I just love looking at it out of my bathroom window all through the hot summer months. I just hope everything survives this massive heat wave we are going through!
Also Good is that today is the day we’ve all been waiting for - the Red White & Blue Blog Hop starts today!!!
The following blogs are showing off their 4th of July Pride today, so please go over and give them some love!
July 1st
And don’t forget to come back here on Tuesday, July 3, to see what I’ve put together for your viewing pleasure (*smiles*), and you may get the chance to win something quilty too! You can go HERE to Jane’s Fabric & Quilts to see the Blog Hop schedule.
The Bad: This picture comes from one of our local news sites out of Clarksville Tennessee.
The mailbox post melted!!! That’s right – it MELTED!!! I’m sorry, but when it’s 112 degrees in Lebanon, Tennessee, there’s something wrong with the weather my friends. It’s been in the upper 90’s and low 100’s now for over a week and no relief is in sight as far as I can tell. I can't imagine what it must be like for people with respiratory problems. And don’t even get me started on what those poor people are going through in Colorado! My prayers go out to each and every one of them.
The Ugly: Or maybe, The Beautiful, depending on your point of view :*) Bottom line is this - THE STASH REPORT IS OUT OF CONTROL!!! No finishes this week – Again!!! And to top off that pitiful performance with whip cream and a cherry, I added 28.5 yards into my stash!!! Yep, you read that right.... 28.5 yards!!!
There must be something in the chemicals they put in fabric. I get near it and I just go crazy, lose my mind, and all reason! It calls to me and I have to have it! Especially the fabric at Whittles because of the low prices :*)
There were about 15 of us that made a road trip to Smith’s Grove, Kentucky, to visit one of our favorite quilt shops, Whittles. They have all different kinds of fabric lines – civil war, holiday, oriental, modern bold prints – you name it, they’ve got it, something for everyone’s tastes! And they have kits and fat backs, patterns and notions. All at really LOW prices… Yep, it’s quilter’s heaven :*)
I went with the intention of looking for a backing piece for Moonglow and perhaps one for Roll Roll Cotton Boll, and then pick up “a few” other pieces that might catch my eye. Hah!!! When have I ever been known to pick up only “a few” pieces of fabric? Can’t be done!!! Ask anyone who knows me and they’ll tell you. I’m willing to bet you that more than one friend is nodding her head right this very minute while reading this, saying, “Yes, that’s Teresa! No stopping her in a fabric shop!” Add to that the 5 yards I bought yesterday for the Mystery Quilt, and it gets even more Ugly... or Beautiful, again depending on your point of view :*) Ugly numbers… Beautiful fabrics!!!
So here’s a few pictures of the bounty…. I didn’t dare blow my stash numbers out of the water without taking pictures so you could see why I temporarily lost my mind :*)
Backing for Moonglow |
Backing for Roll Roll Cotton Boll |
Cutest little Black & White prints EVER!!! |
Various Half-yard cuts for the Stash |
Fat Quarters for a Butterfly quilt I plan to make - someday :*) |
Jim Shore print of quilty cats =^..^= |
Maybe my favorite piece - a gorgeous blue batik!!! |
Neutral batik for a background I just couldn't resist! |
I also got a five yard cut of black with tone-on-tone leaves on it for the background of my Harvest quilt I'd like to make before Fall. I didn't include a picture because it came out looking like a sickly gray... not the picture I want to leave you with :*)
Used this week: 0 yards
Used YTD 2012: 82.75 yards
Added this week: 28.50 yards
Added YTD 2012: 141.00 yards
Net Used for 2012: -58.25 yards
So what do you say? Ugly or Beautiful? I’m thinking I’m going to have to go with the fabric instead of the numbers and say, "Beautiful!" =^..^=
Maybe next week I’ll be able to behave myself a little better. On second thought - Nah, what fun is that???
So how is your stash coming along? See how others are doing HERE at Patchwork Times! Until next week….
Hugs & Blessings,
Teresa
=^..^=
Enhancement of stash is a MUST! You are doing a great job of enhancing.
ReplyDeleteI love all your fabrics. If I had seen them, I guess I would be in for considerable stash additions. Beautiful fabrics!!
ReplyDeleteI feel like that mail box with this heat. Your fabric is gorgeous so I wouldn't worry too much about the numbers.
ReplyDeleteOOH! I can't wait to see what you've cooked up for the blog hop...from what I've seen just today, it's already a terrific one! That blue batik is scrumptious, just scrumptious!!! :)
ReplyDeleteLovely fabrics!! They are beautiful!!! So praying for those in the western states with fires! So sorry it has been hot - we are better here in Texas the past few days, but we were sure hot last week! Hope it cools down soon!
ReplyDeleteBlessings
I say beautiful. You aren't so in the hole and all of your purchases were either gorgeous or just plain fun. No way you can pass that up.
ReplyDeleteA girl has to have VARIETY in her stash!
ReplyDeleteHa,Ha, the way you're going you will be - 100 by the end of the year. Just kidding, admire you for your dedication.
ReplyDeleteIt's an investment. With the price of quilting fabric, any sale is an investment in future projects:) Even bad numbers can be beautiful! Awesome backing fabrics!!!
ReplyDeleteHere you have a prime example of why I don't do a stash report. It's my stash and I will add to it if I like, and purge when moved upon to do so. I say it is all beautiful, Teresa. I especially love the backing pieces and the batiks. Why should you feel guilty enhancing the supplies for your craft with such nice additions? Enjoy!
ReplyDeleteYour stash additions are wonderful. I too cannot pass up a bargain when it comes to fabric, or food, or most anything! ha. I particularly love your backings - which I desperately need now too. Wish I had been there with you.
ReplyDeleteAbout your numbers -- When you have used over 80 yards in only 6 months, I think that is EXCELLENT news. What enhancement number?? I didn't see any other number when I looked at your report - must have been the computer hid them!!
I've got to get busy to catch up -- ha in my dreams. Keep up the good work.
it was 109 here and i though we would melt
