Mommies Come First

I know you've all been wondering if I fell off the face of the earth. Well, actually I've been climbing mountains! My mom lives in the lovely North Carolina mountains, and she had surgery last Thursday to remove a cancerous growth in her lower colon, so I've been in Asheville helping to take care of her.

She's been a great patient and is recovering nicely :) They removed all the wires and tubes yesterday, and we got a beautiful smile from her....




We are hoping she will go home today or tomorrow. She will still have quite a bit of healing to do at home for the next few weeks, and I don't want to leave until I am sure she and her husband are comfortable with her care.

I brought lots of sewing things with me, but to be honest I just haven't been able to concentrate on anything but her. I'll have lots of catching up to do when I get home!

    Make sure she gets rest and tries not to overdo it, I just had surgery in the rectum and the healing process took longer then I expected.

    I have been keeping you and your Mom in my prayers, knowing you were going through this. So glad things have gone well! Mom looks lovely--apple didn't fall far from the tree!
    When my Mom was hospitalized last summer I never touched the needlework I had taken along for bedside vigil. I hear ya!
    Take care of yourself, too. I know that is hard when you are on constant duty.

    It's nice you are able to do that for her ; )
    When my mom was in the hospital, I took knitting because I thought it was mindless. My aby sweater ended up with three arms! lol

    Family first Teresa - always. I spent all of last week helping one of my daughters and though I missed the sewing I know that the time with her was precious and that she will treasure it always. blessings, marlene
